Personnel of the SBGSU, in collaboration with personnel from the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, conducted an operation to land on Zmiinyi Island and installed a border sign.

The Head of the SBGSU Serhii Deineko participated in this significant event. The head of the border agency emphasized that the personnel of the Izmail border detachment, with the assistance of the Defense Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, have reinstated historical justice.

Zmiinyi Island is a symbol of Ukrainian invincibility. During the full-scale russian invasion, it was defended by border guards and the servicemen of the AFU. They all were captured in war prison after invaders’ attacks. A part of them are still being in the occupiers’ prisons but Ukraine do everything possible to return them back home.

While defending the island, a border guard spoke words that indicated the course of the russian warship. This phrase became a rallying cry and a symbol of resistance in Ukraine's war against russia, inspiring the entire Ukrainian nation to continue the fight.

After intense battles, Ukrainian defenders managed to liberate the island from the occupiers and regain control over it.
